Press Release: Legacy Arts Announces Scholarship for Area Artists and Entrepreneurs

The Meeting Place on Market is proud to be a founding member of Legacy Arts, Inc., a non-profit formed in 2019 with the following goals:
  • Retain art & culture in the Lima community
  • Cultivate a creative economy
  • Showcase local talent
  • Build pride in the Lima community
  • Change people’s perception about the Lima community
The first step towards achieving these goals was The Legacy Arts Street Party. This free, family-friendly, community event showcases regional artists, entrepreneurs and musicians and has been held in 2019, 2021 and 2022.
The next step towards achieving these goals is to award financial scholarships to area artists & entrepreneurs. Today, Legacy Arts is pleased to announce that applications are now being accepted for the first round of Legacy Arts Scholarships. This program is intended to support individuals who want to use creative arts and/or entrepreneurship to serve the greater Lima community.
Applicants should apply for an amount between $500-$3000 and designate how the funds will be used to enrich the community through creative arts and/or entrepreneurship. Each scholarship recipient will also receive mentorship and promotional tools through Legacy Arts. Applications will be accepted through the end of December and award recipients will be announced by January 31, 2023.
“Every member of Legacy Arts has found success as an artist and/or entrepreneur in the Lima region, and it’s our time to give back and encourage others to do the same,” said Marc Bowker, co-owner of Alter Ego Comics, Live at The Lab and co-founder of Legacy Arts. “We want to help others achieve their dreams while enhancing the community that we’ve all chosen to call home.”
